VVC Strategic Plan 2025

Vision – Empowered Virginia veteran communities through synergistic and integrated advocacy, policy, and programs.

Mission – Coordinate a strategic response on behalf of veterans, their families, and caregiver(s) to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS) , General Assembly, Governor, or Congressional representatives identifying the need for legislative/policy/program development.

Goals:

1.Enhance the effectiveness of CVEBs/ Veteran Support Organizations across Virginia, including their outreach to local veterans and integration into their communities.

2.Develop VVC communications strategies for that identify programs/ events/issues to veterans and their community support structures.

3.Identify strategic issues of importance (i.e., legislative/policy/program initiatives) to be proposed to the Virginia Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Organizations (JLC).

Work with VA and DVS to improve veterans’ support programs.

Goal 1 – Enhance the effectiveness of CVEBs/Veteran Support  Organizations across Virginia, including their outreach to local veterans and integration into their communities.

Objective(s): 

  1. Engage with VVC members to identify items that enhance the quality of life for veterans’, their families, and caregiver(s).
  2. Provide mentorship and support/materials for establishing new CVEBs and Veterans Support Organizations

Goal 2 – Develop VVC communications strategies that identify programs/ events/issues to veterans and community support structures.

Objective(s):

1.Create a VVC web and Facebook page to promote veteran awareness/outreach.

2.Link available resource directories (i.e., DoD, DVS, etc.) to afford veterans, families, and caregiver’s key information on available services.

3.Work with CVEBs to help them communicate with their veterans.

Goal 3 – Identify strategic issues of importance (i.e., legislative/policy/ program initiatives) to be proposed to the Virginia Joint Leadership Council of Veterans Organizations (JLC).

Objective(s):

  1. Engage with VVC members to identify issues negatively affecting veteran(s), families, and caregiver(s) quality of life.
  2. Provide support for proposed legislation that support the JLC and may be submitted to the General Assembly for action.

Goal 4 – Work with VA and DVS to improve veterans’ support programs.

Objective(s): 

  1. Identify opportunities for conducting veteran benefit events (i.e., in-person or virtual) that promote access to VA Health Care and allow veterans to apply for benefits.
  2. Work with VA, DVS, other Veteran organizations to ensure Veterans are adequately represented across the Commonwealth.
